Vietnamese producer targets new export markets

La Hien Cement JSC, a subsidiary of the Vietnam National Coal Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin),  is seeking new export markets in Asia and Africa, an executive of the company said. Dangote Cement Plc began trial production of cement last week at its 2.5Mta cement works in Ethiopia,  AllAfrica press reported. The milestone of kiln ignition was achieved in April 2015. The plant is connected to grid electricity and stockpiles of limestone have been built up from the quarry, 4km away. Ashaka 1Q pretax profit down 59%, Nigeria

Nigeria's Ashaka Cement first-quarter pretax profit fell 58.8 per cent to NGN1.16bn (US$5.8m) from a year ago, the company said on Monday. The decline was partly attributed to a fall in sales and a contraction in gross margin. Revenue fell to NGN4.56bn during the three months to end-March, down from NGN6.5bn in the previous year, the local unit of Lafarge Cement said in a stock exchange filing.

Vicat shows good profit growth in the USA, India and Africa

Vicat’s turnover increased by six per cent in 2014 to EUR2422.7m and the EBITDA emerged 3.6 per cent ahead at EUR442m, while at unchanged parameters the increases would have been eight and seven per cent respectively.
