Ukraine’s District Administrative Court of Kyiv has reportedly dismissed the claim of the managing company of Belarusian Cement Co and its local importers regarding the cancellation of anti-dumping duties on cement imports into Ukraine, established by the Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade in May 2019. Belarus produces 2.3Mt of cement in 1H20

In January-June 2020 Belarus manufactured nearly 2.3Mt of cement, 102.3 per cent up on 1H19. In the same period, the cement industry enterprises made nearly BYN400m (US$150m) worth of industrial products, 12.4 per cent up from 1H19.

Belarusian Cement Co produced 1.835Mt of cement in the January-May 2020 period, an increase of 104.7 per cent YoY. Total domestic sales also advanced 112.1 per cent YoY. Belarusian Cement Mill dispatched 656,600t of cement (up 3.6 per cent YoY), including 407,800t of domestic sales (up 13.8 per cent). Belarusian Cement receives ASB loan

Belarus cement producer Belarusian Cement Co has received a BYN361,400 (US$153,607) loan from ASB Belarus. The loan will fund a new production line that is able to use refuse-derived fuel (RDF) as well as needed repairs at its Krasnoselstroymaterialy plant, reports Journal Cement. Belarusian Cement Co (BCC) opened a representative office in Poland earlier this year in anticipation of higher exports to central Europe. Ukraine’s cement output slips in 2019

The production of cement in Ukraine decreased by 0.5 per cent in 2019 when compared to 2018 and by 4.9 per cent when compared with 2017. Cement production reached 8.89Mt in 2019. The fall was attributed to the exit of HeidelbergCement from the market as well as the introduction of antidumping duties on Russian and Belarus imports.

In 2019 total domestic cement production in Belarus increased 4.6 per cent YoY to 4.7Mt. Belarus government awards US$4m grant to Krasnoselskstroimaterialy

The Belarus Council of Ministers will provide a non-repayable grant of BYN8.5m (US$4.06m) to state-owned cement producer Krasnoselskstroimaterialy OJSC in 2019-20, according to BelaPAN news agency. The cement company will use the grant to improve heat efficiency at its plant in Volkovsysk, Hrodna region.

Ukrainian capacity utilisation on the rise

Antidumping duties on Portland cement and clinker from Belarus, Moldova and Russia introduced by the Ukrainian government last summer have led to an increase in output and capacity utilisation in Ukraine’s cement plants, according to Interfax-Ukraine. "We regard this step as positive, which allowed us to increase the load of enterprises and output of marketable products. Now our capacities are 90 per cent loaded," said Mykola Kruts, the chairman of the board of Ivano-Frankivskcement.
