Ethiopia-based Derba Midroc Cement (DMC) and Sinohydro Construction Ltd have signed an ETB330m (US$7.24m) contract for a power expansion project that will allow the factory to double production and receive sustainable energy. India’s Wonder Cement has ordered its eighth vertical roller mill from Gebr Pfeiffer to grind petroleum coke and coal. The producer is starting the expansion of its cement plant in Tehsil Nimbahera, Chittorgarh, which will see its fourth 8000tpd rotary kiln be operated with petroleum coke and/or coal as fuel. Sarche plant to reactivate kiln line

Italy’s Italcementi (HeidelbergCement) has announced an investment of almost EUR5m (US$6.07m) at its Sarche plant in Madruzzo, Italy. The works will see the factory, which has been operating as a grinding unit since 2015, reactivate its pyroprocessing line. As a result, production capacity is expected to reach 250,000tpa by January 2022. The expansion is being made to meet the rising demand of northeast Italy, with the project also set to employ 30 people.

MI Cement Factory moves forward with expansion plans

Bangladesh’s MI Cement Factory has reopened its investment plan worth BDT7.70bn (US$91.74m), which will see it set up its sixth production line at its factory in Munshiganj. The new production line will add 8280tpd to its existing capacity of 11000tpd. The company has postponed the project in October last year, but has reversed the decision following the industry’s recovery from the impacts of the pandemic.

Southern Province Cement announces new 10,000tpd line

Holcim Argentina has inaugurated a new line at its Malagueño plant in Cordoba, following an investment of around US$120m. The project included the construction of a new kiln line, a state-of-the-art vertical roller mill and a dispatch centre.
