Venezuela produces more than 8Mt of cement

From October 2011 to October this year, Venezuelan cement companies produced 8.295Mt of cement, the highest annualised output in the country’s history, according to Entorno Inteligente. Union Andina de Cementos (Unacem) – which comprises the recently merged Cementos LIma and Cementos Andino –  reported a net profit to PEN70.3m (US$27m) compared with PEN42m in the same quarter in the previous year boosted by strong sales. Cementos Lima and Cementos Andino to merge, Peru

Peruvian cement producers Cementos Lima and Cemento Andino are to merge into a single company, the company’s said in a joint statement. Shareholders from both producers on Tuesday approved plans for the merger which will create a new company under the name of Union Andina de Cementos SAA on 1 October, the statement to Peru’s securities regulator said.
