Peru’s cement market expands 16% in November

Cement dispatches in Peru rose 15.6 per cent YoY in November 2020 to 1.188Mt from 1.028Mt in November 2019, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Of the total, 1.092Mt were supplied by Asocem members. Puerto Rican cement sales advance 2% in November

Cement sales in Puerto Rico edged up two per cent in November 2020 to 46,901t from 46,048t in November 2019, according to Sin Comillas. The latest data indicates a levelling off of market expansion, which had seen double-digit growth between June and September. Local cement production declined by 60.7 per cent to 18m377t in November 2020, representing the fourth-consecutive drop.

Cement sales in Morocco increased 6.7 per cent YoY to 1,107,370t in November 2020 from 1,038,250t in November 2019, according to the Ministry of National Land Use, Urbanisation and Housing. Sales in the key retail segment advanced 9.3 per cent YoY to 745,592t while the ready-mix concrete sector saw a 2.2 per cent drop in offtake. Sri Lanka sees production up 9% in 9M20

Sri Lanka has seen domestic cement production rise 28.7 per cent YoY to 375,000t in September. In August production was up by 17.4 per cent YoY to 392,000t. Overall, cement production increased 8.5 per cent to 2.82Mt in the first nine months of 2020, compared to 2.6Mt in the same period of last year. Brazilian cement sales in November totalled 5.315Mt, representing an increase of 11.7 per cent when compared with November 2019, according to the country’s cement association, SNIC. Cement sales in Saudi Arabia increased 16.5 per cent YoY to 4.75Mt in November 2020, driven by the Ministry of Housing’s programmes, according to NCB Capital Co. On a monthly basis, local cement sales edged up by 0.7 per cent in November, reaching the second-highest monthly figure since January 2017. Cement consumption in Bolivia dropped 12.6 per cent YoY to 337,063t in September 2020 from 385,624t in September 2019, according to the country’s statistics office, INE. Chile's cement demand up 16% in October

Cement consumption in Chile increased 16.2 per cent to 392,688t in October 2020 from 337,959t in the previous year, according to the country’s construction chamber, CChC. When compared with the previous month, the market expanded 19.7 per cent from 328,184t in September 2020. In January-October 2020 period, domestic demand dropped 10.6 per cent to 3.043Mt from 3.401Mt in the 10M2019.

Cement demand in Argentina surged 25.1 per cent YoY and edged up two per cent MoM to 1,091,549t in November 2020, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP.  The market was entirely supplied by domestic output. Cement dispatches in Colombia increased 5.2 per cent YoY to 1.169Mt in October 2020 when compared with 1.111Mt delivered in October 2019, according to the national statistics agency, DANE.
