Argentina’s cement consumption fell 7.2 per cent YoY and 10.4 per cent MoM to 938,972t in September 2019, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Puerto Rican cement sales fell 7.4 per cent in September 2019 when compared with the previous year. A total of 1.02m of 42.5kg bags, or 43,350t was sold on the domestic market, according to Sin Comillas. The latest drop in sales represents the eighth-consecutive month of market contraction. Colombian cement dispatches advanced 3.4 per cent YoY to 1.099Mt in August 2019 from 1.061Mta year earlier, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. Casanare, Huila, Bolívar and Santander delivered the strongest growth with a YoY improvement of 48.4, 19.8, 15.6 and 13.7 per cent, respectively. Total cement sales by Vietnamese producers slipped four per cent to 8.091Mt  in August 2019 when compared with the year-ago period, according to data by the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Cement demand in Puerto Rico decreased 11.4 per cent in August, continuing a seven-month period of decline. In August 1.12m bags of 94lb (42.5kg), or 47,600t were sold. Cement output slipped 2.4 per cent YoY to 1.06m bags – the sixth fall in seven months, according to Sin Comillas. Cement demand in Spain declined 1.4 per cent YoY to 1,089,617t in August, according to Oficemen, the country’s cement association. In addition to lower domestic sales, exports have dropped by a quarter, registering a fall for 27 consecutive months. Total Portland and blended cement shipments (including imports) in the USA and Puerto Rico in June 2019 fell by 2.4 per cent to 9.1Mt when compared with June 2018, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Cement deliveries in Indonesia slipped by 3.2 per cent YoY in August 2019 to 6,323,297t from 6,532,840t in August 2018, according to data by the Indonesian cement association, ASI, cited by Semen Indonesia Group.
