The Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued notices to several cement factory owners to appear on 20 April, with regards to clarifying their position on the drying out of the Shiri Katas Raj Temple Pond. The pond has allegedly been depleted due to the operation of cement plants in the area, which may have removed the underground water. Dandot Cement Co posts PKR320m loss in 1HY17-18

Dandot Cement Company Ltd (DCCL) has announced that it has incurred a loss of PKR320m (US$2.88m) in 1HY17-18 as compared to a loss of PKR110m incurred in corresponding period last year.   According to a notification of DCCL's to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), company sales decreased to PKR679m from PKR 1.07bn during this period. Dandot Cement Company reports a loss for FY2017

Dandot Cement Company Ltd has announced its financial results for FY2017. The Pakistan-based company reported a loss of PKR527m (US$4.9m) compared to the loss of PKR280m in the previous financial year. The net sales of the company fell in the same period, decreasing from PKR2.98bn of FY2016 to PKR2.49bn for FY2017. The cost of distribution increased from PKR18m to PKR24m.

Dandot Cement reduces half-year loss

Dandot Cement Co reported a loss after tax of PKR342.24m (US$3.4m) in the first half of the current Pakistan fiscal compared to a loss of PKR 380.42m in the comparative period of the year before. Net sales reached over PKR1bn versus PKR93m in 1HFY13-14, the company said in a notice to the Karachi Stock Exchange. The cost of sales, however, rose to PKR1.28bn from PKR406m a year earlier.
