Buzzi SpA's 2023 regional results see cement sales climb in Italy

Buzzi SpA reported domestic hydraulic binders and clinker sales in Italy up 2.1 per cent in 2023, while the ready-mix concrete output slightly declined 1.4 per cent. The average prices of cement and concrete confirmed their improvement compared to the previous period. Kant Cement Plant builds new clinker line

Kyrgyz Republic-based Kant Cement Plant OJSC has commenced construction of a new dry clinker production line. The new line will have a clinker production capacity of 2500tpa, equivalent to an annual capacity of 0.8Mt.  The Kant Cement Plant, located in Ysykaty District, currently has a production capacity of 1.089Mta of cement and 0.99Mta of clinker.   

Turkey's cement industry requires US$30bn to meet net-zero targets

Representatives for the sector are highlighting that the Turkish cement industry will need at least US$30bn in investments to reach the ambitious goal of net-zero carbon by 2053. Azerbaijani exports up 14% in 2023

Cement and clinker exports from Azerbaijan to Georgia advanced by 13.9 per cent YoY to 814,803t in 2023. The value of the exports increased by 34.4 per cent YoY to US$46.562m. There are four cement producers in Azerbaijan: Norm Cement with its 2.1Mta Qizildas plant in Garadagh, Holcim (Azerbaijan) OJSC with its 1.7Mta Qaradag works in Baku, Gazakh Cement Plant LLC’s 1.5Mta unit in Gazakh , and Gemikaya Azerbaijan with the 0.26Mta Araz facility in Nakhchivan.

Uzbek cement output surges in January 2023

Uzbekistan’s cement plants produced 627,000t of cement in January 2024, a 2.3-fold increase YoY, according to the country’s statistics agency. In 2023 output from Uzbek cement plants was 11.93Mt. In September 2023 a UZS3.8trn (US$312.6m) project was launched in Samarkand with assistance from CHINA Energy International Group. The new plant will produce M-400 and M-500 Portland cement at a rate of 7500tpd or 3Mta. The factory reportedly created 500 new jobs.

Azerbaijani cement production up by 23% in January

Azerbaijan increased its cement production by 23.2 per cent YoY to 251,600t in January 2024, according to the State Statistics Committee. However, clinker production slipped 1.8 per cent YoY to 345,800t in the first month of the year. Having completed the public offering for Doğu Anadolu Cement, Turkey-based Limak Holding  reports that the company will begin trading on Borsa Istanbul on 22 February 2024. Approximately 3.3m investors applied to own the shares in the initial public offering (IPO) of Limak Doğu Anadolu Cement, which took place between 14-16 February. Medcem announces terminal partnerships in UK

Turkey’s Medcem has announced a partnership with Brett Concrete, one of the largest independent concrete companies in the UK, to establish a terminal at Sheerness Port in Kent, UK.
