Steppe Cement of Kazakhstan reports that it sold 764,752t of cement in the 1H20 for KZT13,677m (US$33.24m), down from 780,315t for KZT10,079m in 1H19. This represents a decline of two per cent in volume and three per cent in turnover. The average price of cement in the 1H20 was KZT17,884/t, excluding VAT, compared to KZT18,042/t in the 1H19. Steppe Cement records net profit of US$9.7m in 2019

Steppe Cement has released its annual results for 2019 and records a net profit of US$9.7m. EBITDA increased to US$23.9m from US$21.4m in 2018 aided by higher prices. Kazakhstan bans cement imports

Kazakhstan’s Acting Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development has signed an order on the regulation of cement imports. The order introduces a ban on the import on certain types of cement from countries outside the Eurasian Economic Union for a period of six months with effect from 16 April, according to Kazakhstan Newsline.

In the 1Q20 Steppe Cement Ltd sold 235,896t of cement for KZT4003m (US$9.4m) compared to 266,393t in the 1Q19, a decline of 11 per cent. Steppe Cement posts 8% revenue rise in 2019

Kazakhstan-based Steppe Cement has posted revenues of KZT30.534bn (US$81m) for the year ended 31 December 2019. This represents a rise of eight per cent when compared with 2018. The company sold 1,715,761t of cement in 2019, marginally lower than the previous year. Steppe Cement is the country's fourth-largest cement producer with a total cement capacity of 1.9Mta. It operates two plants in Karaganda: the 1.1Mta Central Asia Cement works and the 0.8Mta Karcement unit.

Kazakhstan Portland cement output falls to 7.8Mt

In the January-September 2019 period cement production in Kazakhstan has fallen by 2.5 per cent to 7.8Mt when compared with the 9M18, when output reached 8Mt, according to Kazakhstan Newsline. Cement prices increased 3.1 per cent to KZT23,300/t (US$59.96/t) in September 2019 from KZT22,600/t in September 2018. The average retail price of M400 cement rose 7.7 per cent YoY from KZT1300/50kg bag to KZT1400/bag over the same period.

China Gezhouba Group Cement's Shieli plant put into operation

China Gezhouba Group Cement Co Ltd’s (CGGCC) plant in Shieli, Kazakhstan, was officially put into operation on 18 October. The 2500tpd China-Kazakh project began construction in April 2017, with a total investment of US$178m. Steppe Cement Ltd of Kazakhstan had a weak third-quarter performance but said year-to-date revenue benefitted from rising cement prices.
