Raysut Cement reports 8% rise in total revenue

Oman's Raysut Cement Group has reported an OMR14.06m (US$36.57m) net loss for the full-year 2020 period, against an OMR2.26m profit in the previous year. The results were attributed to a decline in sales volume in the local market as a result of projects and lower sales realisation per tonne of cement and clinker sold in export markets due to stiff competition from the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Iran. Raysut Cement Co begins construction of 9MW WHR system

Oman’s Raysut Cement Co has begun construction of a new 9MW waste heat recovery (WHR) system at its plant in Salalah. The project is expected to contribute to the company’s ambitious sustainability targets, which include reducing power consumption capacity by 25-30 per cent, lowering CO 2 emissions and cutting water consumption by more than 50 per cent. The producer has contracted Sinoma Overseas Development Co Ltd for the project on an EPC basis.

Oman’s Raysut Cement Co has announced a 7.5 per cent YoY rise in revenue to OMR90.3m (US$234.9m) in its unaudited results for 2020, compared to OMR84.06m in the previous year. However, it has posted a loss after tax of OMR14.02m against an OMR2.26m profit in 2019.

New US$435m project set for Oman

Oman’s Duqm International Cement Projects Co is preparing to launch the country’s biggest integrated cement plant project with an investment of US$435m, according to the Oman News Agency. Oman’s Raysut Cement has announced its unaudited results for the 9M20, reporting a five per cent YoY fall in revenue to OMR65.24m (US$169.67m) from OMR62.13m in the year-ago period. The company also saw a OMR10.65m loss after tax for the nine months ending September 2020, compared to an OMR1m profit in the 9M19.
