Ramco Cements to increase grinding capacity

Fives to supply Ramco Cements

Fives has received an order from AMCL Machinery Ltd to supply a new FCB TSV™ Classifier 4500 THF for  Ramco Cements' expansion project at the RR Nagar plant in Tamil Nadu, India. This is the fourth order placed with Fives by the Indian cement producer. Previously, Ramco has installed FCB TSV™ classifiers installed at its grinding units in Kolagat, Salem and Chengalpattu plants.  

India: Ramco appoints PR Venketrama Raja as new CMD

Ramco Cements has announced the appointment of P R Vektrama Raja as its new Chairman and Managing Director. The appointment is for a five-year term, starting 4 June 2017, said Ramco in a Bombay Stock Exchange filing. It follows the passing of Chaiman P R Ramasubrahaneya Rajha in March.

India: Ramco Cements reports 28% rise in 3Q net profit

India’s Ramco Cements has reported a 28 per cent YoY increase in net profit to INR1.519bn (US$22.6m) in 3Q16. The company attributes the rise to a reduction in operating costs and lower finance costs at a time when cement sales improved. The companies net revenues rose 17.6 per cent to INR9.647bn in 3Q16 when compared with the same quarter in the previous year.

Ramco Cements reported a 45.6 per cent rise in net profit to INR2.07bn in the second quarter ended 30 September 2016 compared to INR1.42bn for the same quarter a year ago. The company’s income increased 13.8 per cent from INR10.32bn in 2QFY15-16 to INR11.74bn in the 2QFY16-17.

Ramco Cements Ltd has stated that it sold 2.076Mt of cement in domestic and export markets during the first quarter ending on 30 June 2016 compared to 1.813Mt in corresponding quarter last year, which translates to a growth of 14.5 per cent. Competition Commission of India imposes US$944m fine for cartelisation

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has levied a fine of INR63.2bn (US$944m) on 10 cement companies whom it accuses of conspiring to fix prices in contravention of competition law. In addition, the Cement Manufacturers Association has been ordered to pay a INR7.3m fine. Of the 10 companies, four – Jaiprakash Associates, UltraTech, Ambuja Cements and ACC – will bear the brunt of the penalties, accounting for 76 per cent of the total fine. India: Ramco given go ahead for power plant upgrade

Ramco Cements has received a boost to its share price after it was given environmental clearance to expand the power plant at one of its facilities. The company’s shares rose by 0.7 per cent after it announced that it had been allowed to proceed with its plans to expand the captive power plant at Alathiyur in Tamil Nadu . This project will raise generation capacity to 42MW at a cost of INR214m (US$3.2m). Fuel for the coal-fired plant will be sourced from Indonesia.

The Environment Ministry of India has given Ramco Cements environmental clearance to expand its captive power plant (CPP) at Alathiyur in Tamil Nadu, at a cost of approximately INR214.2m (US$3.18m). Rambo proposed increasing the capacity of the CPP by adding 6MW turbines, taking total power generation from 42MW. Ramco Cements has announced a more than two-fold increase in its net profit to INR2bn (US$30m) for the its fourth quarter ended 31 March 2016, compared to INR934m (US$13.8m) for the same quarter in the previous year.
