Russian producers increase railway distribution in 2019

Russian cement manufacturers shipped over 26.21Mt of cement by railway in 2019, an increase of four per cent YoY against 2018. The top regions for consumption of cement delivered by railway in 2019 were Moscow region (1.99Mt tons, +12.3 per cent YoY), the Republic of Tatarstan (1.79Mt, +7.2 per cent), Moscow (1.7Mt, +15.3 per cent), Krasnodar region (1.55Mt, -13.9 per cent), and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area (1.15Mt, +4.8 per cent).

Teploozersky cement plant purchases excavators

Russian cement producer Vostok Cement has bought two Hitachi ZX470 excavators for its Teploozersky plant. They will replace the current Volvo excavators with high-performance, increased safety and environmentally-friendly equipment. Located in the Jewish Autonomous Region, the Teploozersky cement plant is an integrated works with a cement capacity of 0.815Mta.

Ukrainian capacity utilisation on the rise

Antidumping duties on Portland cement and clinker from Belarus, Moldova and Russia introduced by the Ukrainian government last summer have led to an increase in output and capacity utilisation in Ukraine’s cement plants, according to Interfax-Ukraine. "We regard this step as positive, which allowed us to increase the load of enterprises and output of marketable products. Now our capacities are 90 per cent loaded," said Mykola Kruts, the chairman of the board of Ivano-Frankivskcement.

Ukraine extends ban on Russian imports

The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has amended the decree on the ban of imports of Russian goods into the country, extending its operation until 31 December 2020, according to UkrInform The import of Portland, aluminous, slag and other similar hydraulic cements and clinkers is prohibited. On 15 May, Ukraine imposed an embargo on Russian cement and plywood in response to the decision of the Russian Federation to close access of Ukrainian goods to Russia.

Siberian Cement sees 2% rise in production for 1H19

Russia’s Siberian Cement has announced that its enterprises produced over 1.455Mt of cement in the first six months of 2019, an increase of two per cent YoY. Its subsidiaries have also reported their results for the January-June 2019 period. Topkinsky Cement produced 1Mt (up four per cent YoY), Krasnoyarsky Cement produced 288,900t (down 11 per cent) and Timlyuy Cement manufactured 164,500t (up 18 per cent).

Asia Cement launches 25kg bags

Asia Cement has started the production of cement in 25kg bags, according to Esmerk Russian News. The smaller pack size is suitable for small construction works and minor repairs. Bags are made from multilayer microcreped paper with a density of 80gm/m 2 .
