Joan Molins Amat new Cementos Molins President

Spain-based Cementos Molins has appointed Joan Molins Amat as its new President following the passing of Casimiro Molins Ribot on 25 June. Joan Molins Amat was formerly First Vice-President of the company. The Group's Board of Directors assigned Joaquín Molins Gil as First Vice-President and Ana María Molins López-Rodó on his place as Second Vice-President.

Oficemen names Jesús Ortiz as new president

Oficemen, the Spanish cement association, has appointed Jesús Ortiz as its new president. Mr Ortiz is currently CEO of HeidelbergCement in Spain. With a degree in Economics and Business Management from a French university, he succeeds Jaime haro.

Darryll Castle is stepping down as CEO of PPC. Johan Claasen, managing director, has stepped into the role as an interim measure. Mr Castle has said he is leaving to pursue other interests but will be available to the company for six months to ensure a smooth handover to his successor.  The announcement comes just one month after the company reported a 93 per cent drop in full-year earnings due to a liquidity crisis following PPC’s credit rating being slashed to junk status.

Patrick Kron to be elected to LafargeHolcim board

LafargeHolcim will propose the election of Patrick Kron as a board member to its general meeting on 3 May. "We are delighted to be able to nominate Patrick Kron, who is an experienced management personality with extensive experience in the transformation of industrial companies," said LafargeHolcim President Beat Hess in the announcement. Mr Kron was formerly head of the industrial group Alstom. Philippe Dauman and Alexander Gut are not available for re-election.

Mauricio Doehner new president of Mexico’s cement association

Mauricio Doehner has been appointed as new president of Mexico’s cement association, Cámara Nacional del Cemento (Canacem). He replaces Billy Álvarez of Cruz Azul. The appointment is for one year with the option to re-elect him for a second period. The new president will focus on positioning cement more as an infrastructure option, promoting the use of alternative fuels, transportation efficiency and reducing environmental impact, the agency said. PT Semen Indonesia has appointed former Jakarta governor and State Intelligence Agency (BIN) director, Sutiyoso, its president commissioner. Sutiyoso served as BIN chief under President Joko Widodo’s administration and previously led the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI). The appointment comes at a time of public protest against the building of the company’s new factory in Rembang, Central Java.
