Odisha clears two cement capacity expansion projects

India’s Odisha state government has cleared two proposals for the expansion of cement grinding capacities. It gave the go-ahead for JSW Cement’s 1.2Mta expansion and Jajpur Cement’s Pvt Ltd 1Mta expansion project – both are located in Kalinganagar in Jajpur. JSW will invest INR4.899bn (US$66.7m) while Jajpur Cements has allocated INR4bn for the project.

Cemex to invest MXN10bn in Tepeaca expansion

Cemex is investing MXN10bn (US$530m) in the expansion of its cement works in Tepeaca, Puebla, according to the group’s President, Grupo Cemex. The expansion of the plant aims to meet the demand of central and southern Mexico. Following the expansion, the cement works will have a capacity of 4.5Mta. According to the company the new project, along with 15 existing plants throughout Mexico, shows its commitment to the development of the country.

Cimtogo signs US$30m contract with Ayoki

Togo-based cement producer Cimtogo has signed a US$30m contract with Ayoki to extend its cement capacity by 1Mta to 2Mta, reports ActuDaily. The project is expected to generate 200-300 jobs. Gazakh Cement completes expansion

Gazakh Cement, Azerbaijan, has increased cement capacity by 20 per cent, raising its capacity from 1Mta to 1.2Mta, according to a report by the Trend News Agency. Gazakh Cement is undertaking further upgrade work at its plant to increase the overall capacity to 1.5Mta in 2020. The company, which is one of the biggest manufacturers of building materials in Azerbaijan, is also seeking to explore export markets, with small volumes of clinker already being exported to neighbouring Georgia.
