India: Lakshmi Cement gets green light to expand Sirohi limestone mine

Lakshmi Cement has been given environmental clearance to expand its opencast limestone mine in the Sirohi district of Rajasthan. Under the proposals, the mine’s capacity will be expanded from 8 to 13Mta. The firm had originally applied for permission for the project in March 2013, but environmental clearance was not given until July 2016. Work on the 390.625ha site is expected to commence immediately.

Société des Cements de Beni Saf has acquired three quarries to supply its second production line. The Dhayet Smaâ quarry has an estimated limestone reserve of 78.66Mt. Burundi Cement Co receives go-ahead for limestone quarry

Burundi Cement Co (BUCECO) has received government approval to start limestone exploitation on the edges of Cibitoke. Initially, the quarried limestone will meet 60 per cent of national demand but by 2020, the quarry is expected to cover the entire requirement.
