On 1 December 2016, Ghanian President John Mahama inaugurated CIMAF Ghana Ltd’s new grinding plant in Tema. This E60m investment marks the latest phase of CIMAF’s rapid growth as a pan-African cement player, which started with the construction of its sister company’s two integrated plants located in Morocco in 2010. In the space of just six years the company has expanded rapidly across sub-Saharan Africa and is now active in nine countries, with plants under construction in a further three. In Gabon the company also acquired assets from HeidelbergCement and these are now being rehabilitated.
