cyclone dust loading measurement

Hello,

Our plant is reviewing the 1st stage cyclones efficiency in the preheater. I can only gather information on solid flow input from flowmeter and gas flow rate by pitot tube. But I will need the dust loading data in and out of the cyclone to complete the mass balance to calculate the efficiency. Is there a conventional (and portable) method in dust loading measurement at high temperature (temperature coming out of 1st stage cyclones is around 400oC)? Thnx

Re: cyclone dust loading measurement

You can estimate the collection efficiency of the cyclones by measuring the loss on ignition in each cyclone and the migration of calcined material up the preheater tower. The amount of dust leaving the top stage cyclone can be directly measured by directing the dust out of the process. Alternatively dilution techniques can be applied.
