Setting Time

What will be the possible reasons for higher initial setting time (435min) and slight difference in initial (435 min) and final setting time(485 min)?

Re: Setting Time

These are very long setting times. What are the normal setting times? Are you using the Vicat needle method? It is known for fluoride to lengthen setting time. Is it possible that the fluoride content of raw materials or fuel have risen?

Re: Setting Time

Respected Sir,

Many thanks for your prompt response.The normal seeting time of the said cement is as given under:

IST = 130-180 minutes   &  FST = 175-235 minutes

I will search the fluoride content in the said cement and inform you in the forum.

With kind regards,

R.M.Sahu

Re: Setting Time

Dear Raj

Maybe in the grinding process of cement has happened failure and much more gypsum has added to cement.

And for a half-joke and half-serious I would say that it's like the case when one put a little sugar in testing tare.
