how to improve quality of clinker

hi everyone!

We have problem with the quality of clinker is the strength is low . (R3 ~24 - 26 N/mm2;R7 ~  36- 38 N/mm2; R28 ~ 48 N/mm2) so we can't increase the ratio of additive.

Specification of our kiln: 5 stages; 2 strings; 2 precalciners

Kiln: 72 m x 4,5m (dia), 4% (slope). grate cooler of Claudius Peters

Fuel: Main burner : ~ 6,1 t/h ( Anthracite coal- Pillard burner)

Precalciners : ~ 13 t/h ( anthracite coal) plus ~ 800 kg MFO/h)

Clinker quality : Free lime ~ 0,7 - 1,3%, liter weight ~ 1,27 1,3 kg/l)

Clinker outlet temp. of cooler ~ 120 - 200 degree celcius

It is difficult to increase the coal at main burner because of bad firing (high CO if increase caol at main burner)

Re: how to improve quality of clinker

There could be many reasons for low strengths. You are right to think about the main burner, but why increase fuel? Perhaps you need a shorter flame, which could be achieved by adjustments of the axial and radial air? Also what is the kiln rotational speed and the possibilities to vary that?

Re: how to improve quality of clinker

Thank you Mr. Micheal Clark very much. But we have a problem when try to adjust a shorter flame by djustments of the axial and radial air is the temperature of kiln shell hot (area around tyre and sometime red spot under the tyre). Could you tell me how to solve this problem?
