Coating formation in Preheater riser ducts

Dear all,

what are the chemical and physical parameters for formation of the Porus Coating in Kiln inlet riser duct and PH gas duct?

Re: Coating formation in Preheater riser ducts

Coating formation is something like formation of eutectic (molten wax) and getting solidifying/ porous form due to its cooling because of external atmospheric air.

Very complex reactions between Ca, Mg,Al,Fe,Mn.alkalies,SO4 Chlorides etc take place to form eutectic mixture and then sets as coating.

Al,Fe acts like anchors at the base of coating and once it is formed in riser duct and PH gas duct, it is difficut to dislodge in cold state. It gets easily removed in red hot condition.Analogy of wax.Circular riser duct appears to be preferable vis-a-vis rectangular duct because of its curvature.

Re: Coating formation in Preheater riser ducts

Angular geometry in ducts relatively help as a base for formation of coating vis-a-vis curved ducts. In taper & curved ducts the flow of gases appears to be smooth with less system resistance and relatively less chances of unwanted coating formation.
