Refractory Terminology

Dear All,

We encounter refractory brick nomenclature like 3k, 4ch, 5ch, IH, IG etc. My interest is that how this terminology is based upon.

Either they are related to the place they installed in or the material they are made of or captive nomenclature of company they are produced by.

I tried many a time on google on this regard, but can't find any thing on matter.

Please post if any have idea.
