Re: How to Control Snoman at Cooler Static Grate

Hai,

we are getting secondary air temperature from 1000 to 1100 oC and cooling zone inside the kiln is around 200 mm. How much specific air is required for static grate area and how much under grate pressure should be maintained. Pl. clarify anybody.

regards

BK.

Re: How to Control Snoman at Cooler Static Grate

Bandari.K:
Please give me some suggestion regarding how to control the Cooler Static Grate Snowman & frequently we are stopping the plant due to heavy snowman.

Hello Bandari,

Apart from dusty conditions, high temperatures and excessive liquid phase etc, there is another possible reason for formation of snowmen. Do you often get buildups or pieces of coating passing through the kiln and falling into the cooler?  If so, these lumps of buildup can act as a base for the formation of snowmen.

Frequent buildups/slabs falling into the kiln and passing through the kiln are generally linked with high CO at the kiln inlet.. an indication of bad combustion.

Do you measure the SO3 and alkalis of your hotmeal exiting the bottom cyclone(s)?  (A sudden increase in hotmeal SO3 is a good indicator of excess CO, if you don't have a CO gas analyser installed.)

Regards,

Ted.

Dears

If u have  dust in this area or positive pressuer  or alkalies in the clinker this will help to born snowman also if you have along B.Z and the cooling is not enough and sticky clinker this is another reason for snow man and coat in in the kiln also inspect the dust gate for kiln outlet seal from bloakage
