Direct and compound operation dust load

I know that the dust load in higher in direct operation and gas volume is lower (in Nm3) and wise versa. Also the total dust is lower in direct operation in dust collector. But i came across a statement in and advertising for bag filter as:"changing from direct operation to compound mode the dust load is increased 1--15 times".

Can anyone explian?
