Cementos Alfa uses Nestlé waste as fuel to reduce CO2?
03 October 2011

Cementos Alfa approved the use of waste produced by Nestlé as fuel, according to Fernando Zunzunegui, CEO of the cement company located in Mataporquera.

Reporting to the Environment Minister, Javier Fernández,  Zunzunegui said that such projects which are aimed at reducing costs are "vital to our business, like everything related to replacement of the fuel which we import from other countries, mainly from America, with fuels derived from waste we have in Cantabria". According Zunzunegui, these wastes would be derived from biomass produced by Cantabrian companies and would reduce the emissions of CO2.

The Minister said that his department will support policies that specifically comply with environmental objectives.
