Padeswood health concerns to be investigated, UK
24 June 2010

The health of people living close to Hanson Cement’s Padeswood works in Flintshire, UK will be studied amid concerns about the plant’s impact on local residents.

Public Health Wales announced the study yesterday after calling on local residents to share their health concerns about the cement works.

Local press reported that the study will include a review of cancer rates, respiratory disease and other related conditions.

A review of what chemicals are used on the plant, dust levels, noise, smells and legal emission levels will also be undertaken together with an environmental information study. A plan of action was agreed at a community meeting earlier this month.
