Southern Africa monthly sales fall

Southern Africa monthly sales fall
08 October 2009

Industry regional sales in the Southern African union for September 2009 registered a declined of 10.7% bringing the annual industry regional sales aligned to PPC’s financial year  to  -11.4%

The PPC Monthly Sales Monitor show annual decline is primarily a result of a decline in demand in Gauteng and Western Cape which has been partially offset by demand from the more resilient  Limpopo, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu Natal provinces and neighbouring Botswana.

The construction sector continues to record positive growth (+11%) indicating evidence of ongoing demand from infrastructure projects. Building Construction and Concrete Product Manufacturer sectors remain disappointing.
