Iran to remove cement subsidy
09 July 2007

Iran’s cabinet is to call time on subsidy for cement, taking into account its production of 42Mta.

The plan was approved on June 15, 2006 by President Mahmud Ahmadinejad, minister of commerce, and representatives from the Cement Guild Association sparked controversy in various economic societies.

Some evaluate the issue positive, whereas some see it against free trade and competition. After 447 days from the enactment, at any case, the process has yet to be finalised.
