Bamburi invests in plant upgrade

Bamburi Cement has announced a Sh30m  infrastructure upgrade at its Athi River cement plant also known as Nairobi Grinding Plant (NGP).

The project, covering 7000 feet of concrete pavement as a parking yard complete with lights, aims at decongesting traffic caused by cement trucks.

Bamburi Cement managing director, Michel Puchercos, on Thursday said poor infrastructure had led to delays in the delivery of cement from the plant.

"Most trucks spend weeks to load cement and are parked on the road reserve next to the plant in a haphazard and dangerous manner," Puchecos said. He said the yard has a capacity to accommodate over 40 long-haul trucks queuing for cement.
