Armenian cement producer, Mika Ltd has invested US$6.5m in Mika Cement LTD since its privatization in April 2001. Director General of Mika Cement CJSC Naira Mkrtchyan told ARMINFO.

She said investments aimed technical modernization, repair and brick-lining of the first kiln with a capacity of 450,000t of cement annually. In 2006 the second kiln with the same capacity will be repaired. Hence, the designed capacity of the plant in 2006 will total 900,000t of cement. She said in 2005 CJSC Mika Cement produced 250,000t of cement as against 190,000t in 2004. Production grew in connection with the internal demand due to large-scale construction in the country. Naira Mkrtchyan said exports grew rapidly in 2005. The cement is exported to Iran via motor-transport and to Georgia via railway.
