Saudi El-Maimani Group plans US$200m cement plant in Egyptian Safaga

Saudi Arabia’s diversified El-Maimani Group plans to build a cement plant in Egypt’s Red Sea port of Safaga for an estimated $200m. The bulk of the plant’s output will be exported to Saudi Arabia to cater for the needs of the group’s construction projects. The feasibility study on the project is being carried out by an unnamed Egyptian investment company.  El-Maimani Group’s decision to build a cement plant in Egypt is said to have been prompted by the lower production costs there, compared to Saudi Arabia. The port of Safaga itself was chosen due to its vicinity to the Kingdom. Published under Cement News
