Pacemco unveils new grinding concept
29 June 2005

Pacific Cement Company, Inc. (Pacemco) in the Philippines is a two-time recipient of the Don Emilio Abello Energy Efficiency and Energy Management Award. Last year, Pacemco also became the fourth Hall Of Fame Awardee, and the only cement plant among the 2004 winners garnering 534,999 liters of oil equivalent (LOE), with a monetary savings of P6,419,988.   Ever the innovator, the company re-engineered its cement grinding operations, employing the dual circuit system, which was the major factor that led to the reduction of energy usage by 18-23 per cent and increased mill output by 20-25 per cent in 2004.

More energy conservation measures are in the offing for the year, and it is the company’s goal to win another Energy Efficiency Management Award this year. "Today you have to be a cement manufacturer with social and moral responsiveness, and sound business cohesiveness," said Engr. Pasion, pointing out that Pacemco has tried its best in coming up to standards, already certified to ISO 9001:2000 for quality, and presently working to establish an effective environmental management system (EMS) and aiming to get certified to ISO 14000 and OHSAS by 2006.
