Cement Australia now has 10,000 tonnes of limestone stockpiled at its lime kiln north of Gladstone in preparation for this month’s plant commissioning at its new lime kiln. The company says a week-long trial using rail to take the limestone from the quarry near Calliope went very smoothly and also helped to detect community issues with the increased rail activity. "We’ve had discussions with the school and the Calliope P and C and people like that," said a spokesman. "We also sent out another leaflet just to remind everyone again that they need to watch out for trains.
