Vietnam's Building Material Department, under the Ministry of Construction, reports that cement producers in the country sold 38.7Mt of cement and clinker in the first half of this year, rising 12.4 per cent from a year earlier. Therefore, the industry has met 51.01 per cent of its whole-year target.

The Ministry of Construction forecasts that Vietnam's sales of cement and clinker will rise 4-7 per cent YoY to 75-77Mt in 2016. A total of 29.92Mt of cement and clinker were sold domestically and exports accounted for 8.85Mt of the total, rising 14.8 per cent and five per cent YoY, respectively.

In October the country will welcome two new cement plants with combined capacity of 6Mta. The country now has 76 cement production lines with a combined output of 81.56Mta.
