Cement production in Vietnam rises 12% in June

Vietnam reportedly produced 8.3Mt of cement in June, an increase of 12.4 per cent YoY, according to data from the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO). Production for the first half of 2019 rose 7.4 per cent YoY to 47.6Mt.

Ukrainian cement output up 27% in May

Cement production in Ukraine in May 2019 increased by 27.1 per cent YoY to 747,000t, according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service. When compared with the previous month, cement output fell eight per cent. In the first five months of 2019, total cement production in the country advanced by 3.4 per cent to 3,086,000t when compared with the 5M18. In 2018 cement output declined by one per cent to 8.926Mt when compared with 2017.

Cement production rises 5% in Azerbaijan

In the first four months of 2019, the total value of building materials production in Azerbaijan rose five per cent YoY to AZN240m (US$141.5m). Cement production increased 5.2 per cent over the same period to 0.99Mt. Ready-mix concrete advanced 11.7 per cent YoY to 0.42Mt. However, production of precast concrete building structures declined 52.5 per cent to 14,100m 3 .

The overall output of Pakstan's Large Scale Manufacturing Industries (LSMI) decreased by 2.3 per cent for July 2018-January 2019, compared to July 2017-January 2018, says data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). Kenya's cement consumption dropped for the second year in a row to 5.49Mt n 2018, according to Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS). The decline in cement consumption comes despite ongoing public infrastructure projects such as roads and phase two of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) as well as continued development of buildings in the country. Iran produced 41Mt of cement during the nine months to 21 December 2018, of which 4.8Mt were exported, reports the Iran Cement Association. The Cement Manufacturers' Association of Nepal claims that, while the import of clinker has increased due to high production demands, it expects the country to be self-reliant on clinker production from next year. Iran’s cement exports expanded by 32 per cent during the first four months of the current fiscal year (20 March-22 July 2018), according to the country’s Customs Administration. The country exported cement to the value of US$107m, representing a 32 per cent YoY rise, and a volume of 2.7Mt, up 24 per cent YoY. Puerto Rican cement sales up 23% in August

Cement sales in Puerto Rico increased 23 per cent YoY to 1.26m bags of 42.5kg (approx 53.55t) in August 2018. It is the eight-consecutive month of growth in cement sales after five years of decreasing sales in the country. In 2017 sales fell 11.2 per cent YoY. Output advanced 10.6 per cent to 1.09m in August. In the year prior, cement production fell by 14.2 per cent YoY.

Pakistan cement's industry saw a fall in total dispatches in August 2018, dropping 8.3 per cent YoY to 3.452Mt from 3.76Mt in August 2017. This runs counter to the strong month of July when a growth of 5.1 per cent was recorded.
