Output of China's building materials sector fell in the first quarter of 2015 as the property market remained weak, the country's top economic planner indicated on Wednesday. India Coal Market Watch (ICMW) reports that cement production in India (except ACC and Ambuja) increased to 21.7Mt in September 2014, about 5.44 per cent up on the 20.58Mt recorded in August 2014. Peru’s cement market remained stable in October as domestic sales slipped slightly from 967,000t in October 2013 to 965,000t, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. However, local producers saw a more marked YoY fall in output from 944,000t to 983,000t. Peru: September dispatches up 3.7%

Cement dispatches in Peru rose 3.7 per cent in September to 904,840t, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Including exports, dispatches reached 946,762t. For 9M14, total domestic sales remained stable at 7.6Mt, edging up 0.4 per cent when compared with 9M13. Some 0.2Mt of exports were dispatched from the Latin American country in the period. Output registered a 0.81 per cent rise.

Double-digit rise in Colombian dispatches

In the first half of 2014, national cement demand in Colombia reached 5.690Mt, up 11.2 per cent when compared with the equivalent period of 2013, according to the country's statistics office, Dane. Consumption in Norte de Santander rose by 50.2 per cent, followed by Magdalena (30.8 per cent) and Huila (24 per cent), Cundinamarca (20.4 per cent), Antioquia (16.7 per cent) and Bogotá (4.7 per cent). Cement shipments in Peru in June advanced 1.5 per cent to 807,953t in June 2014 from 795,896t in the same month last year, according to the country's cement producers' association, Asocem. Iran produces 18.23Mt of cement in 1Q14

Iran produced 18.23Mt of cement and 19.35Mt of clinker in spring 2014, which corresponds to the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year (21 March – 20 June).   Meanwhile, Iran exported around 18Mt of cement in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on 20 March 2014. The country’s cement output is currently about 80Mta, of which 50Mta is used by domestic industries.

Carthage Cement reported a turnover of TND41.95m (US$26.45m) in the three months to March 31, 2014, up 337 per cent compared to the same period in 2013. Saudi cement companies saw profits rise 8.2 per cent as cement demand in the kingdom continued to expand on the back of large projects, said Global Research in its June 2013 report.
