Nepal to be self-sufficient in cement production in 2019

The Cement Manufacturers' Association of Nepal claims that, while the import of clinker has increased due to high production demands, it expects the country to be self-reliant on clinker production from next year. Iran’s cement exports expanded by 32 per cent during the first four months of the current fiscal year (20 March-22 July 2018), according to the country’s Customs Administration. The country exported cement to the value of US$107m, representing a 32 per cent YoY rise, and a volume of 2.7Mt, up 24 per cent YoY. Puerto Rican cement sales up 23% in August

Cement sales in Puerto Rico increased 23 per cent YoY to 1.26m bags of 42.5kg (approx 53.55t) in August 2018. It is the eight-consecutive month of growth in cement sales after five years of decreasing sales in the country. In 2017 sales fell 11.2 per cent YoY. Output advanced 10.6 per cent to 1.09m in August. In the year prior, cement production fell by 14.2 per cent YoY.

Pakistan's cement dispatches fall in August

Pakistan cement's industry saw a fall in total dispatches in August 2018, dropping 8.3 per cent YoY to 3.452Mt from 3.76Mt in August 2017. This runs counter to the strong month of July when a growth of 5.1 per cent was recorded. Ukrainian cement output up 13% in May

Ukraine’s cement producers increased their production by 12.9 per cent YoY in May, reports the Ukrainian News Agency. Output reached 1,024,000t and when compared to April, this represents a rise of 42.2 per cent. In April cement production reached 720,000t, a decrease of 12.5 per cent YoY. However, in the first five months of 2018, cement production fell 6.2 per cent YoY to 2.985Mt. In 2017 cement production edged up by 2.3 per cent YoY to 9.307Mt.

In January 2018 the volume of cement consumption in Russia amounted to 2.2Mt, up 3.5 per cent on January 2017, reported the Cement Producers’ Union (CPU). Vietnam is likely to have produced 7.2Mt of cement in January, which fell 5.8 per cent from December 2017 but rose 29.7 per cent from a year earlier, according to latest data from the government-run General Statistics Office.
