Cement price increases to HNL216 in Tegucigalpa

The retail price of cement in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, has increased to HNL216/bag (US$9.21/42.5kg) in the last few weeks, reports El Heraldo. In other parts of the country cement is cheaper with prices ranging between HNL197-205/bag. Cement production in Poland increased by two per cent in 2016, according to the Polish Association of Cement Producers. In 2017 cement demand is expected to grow by 2.5 per cent to 16.1Mt thanks to healthy housing and transport infrastructure construction markets, the association said. Peru: cement demand and exports fall but output stable

Cement consumption in Peru saw a six per cent YoY fall but recorded a 1.4 per cent MoM rise, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. Demand reached 0.747Mt, down from 0.795Mt in the third month of 2016. According to figures released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), cement dispatches for March 2017 reached 3.9Mt, up 23 per cent YoY with the industry running at full capacity during the month, reports the Daily Times. Colombia's cement sales fall 2.8% in January

January cement sales in Colombia fell 2.8 per cent YoY to 913,190t, according to the country’s statistic office, DANE. The largest decreases were reported in Casanare and Boyacá, which saw sales decrease by 46.8 and 25.5 per cent, respectively. Antioquia reported an increase in sales of  9.1 per cent when compared with January 2015. Cement production in January 2017 reached 910,350t, down six per cent YoY. The share of bagged cement slipped by 2.8 per cent YoY.

USA: Summit cement profits rise 45% on back of higher volumes and prices

In a trading statement for 2016, Summit Materials has announced that profits at its cement business rose by 45.1 per cent YoY, with volumes rising by 37 per cent and prices increasing by 7.5 per cent. China's cement output rose 2.5 per cent YoY to 2.4bnt in 2016, compared with the 4.9 per cent drop in 2015, according to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). Cement consumption in Peru fell 5.2 per cent to 836,000t in December 2016, according to Asocem, the country's cement association.
