Cameroon’s cement producers – Cimencam, Dangote, Cimaf and Necsen – have produced a combined output of 2.6Mt of cement in 2016, according to Camerpost.

Total installed cement capacity in the country is 4.2Mta following the commissioning of three new cement plants in 2015-16. Cimencam operates a 1.6Mta works at Figuil and delivered 0.9Mt of cement to the domestic market. Dangote Cement Cameroon opened its 1.5Mta unit on the banks of the river Wouri. The company said it had acquired a “50.18 per cent share of the market”. Cimaf opened its 0.5Mta production facility in 2015 and supplied 0.3Mt in 2016. Last year Necsen delivered 0.3Mt to Cameroon’s cement market from its 0.5Mta.

Cameroon’s current cement demand is estimated between 2.5-2.8Mt with growth of eight per cent expected due to several infrastructure projects under construction.
