Colombian cement market contracted by 3.8 per cent to 1.158Mt in July 2026 from 1.204Mt in July 2025, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE.
Bagged cement dispatches shrank by three per cent YoY while bulk cement deliveries were down 5.6 per cent YoY. Off-take by the wholesale segment declined three per cent and ready-mix concrete companies reduced their purchases by 0.7 per cent YoY. However, deliveries to construction companies and contractors were down 9.9 per cent YoY.
In Bogotá deliveries were down 15.4 per cent, the largest contraction seen in the country during July 2026, followed by -11.5 per cent in Valle del Cauca and -6.4 per cent in Antioquia. Sales in Cundinamarca declined by 4.2 per cent while in Atlántico they were down 2.8 per cent. Dispatches in Santander edged up by 2.8 per cent while in Bolívar, 1.3 per cent growth was noted.
Output from domestic cement plants declined 4.5 per cent YoY to 1.205Mt in July 2026 from 1.262Mt.
January-July 2026
In the first seven months of 2026, cement dispatches in Colombia increased 4.3 per cent YoY to 7.555Mt from 7.246Mt in the 7M25.
While deliveries of bagged cement increased by 6.6 per cent YoY in the 7M26, bulk cement dispatches slipped 0.9 per cent YoY. This is reflected in a 7.8 per cent increase in deliveries to the wholesale segment as well as a 6.2 per cent drop in deliveries to the construction companies and contractors. The ready-mix concrete segment increased its off-take by two per cent YoY.
Dispatches to the Bogotá market contracted by seven per cent YoY in the 7M26, while in Antioquia they slipped by 0.1 per cent. Valle del Cauca’s off-take fell by 4.3 per cent YoY and sales to the Cundinamarca market were down 2.8 per cent. These are in sharp contract with deliveries to Santander, which advanced by 11.5 per cent, and to the Atlántico department, which grew 8.8 per cent YoY. In addition, dispatches to Bolívar increased 7.1 per cent YoY.
Meanwhile, domestic cement production edged up by 2.7 per cent YoY to 8.093Mt in the January-July 2026 period when compared with 7.881Mt in the equivalent period of the previous year.
