LafargeHolcim Bangladesh (LHB) and Sylhet City Corp have outlined plans for a bio-drying project to improve municipal waste segregation and support the recovery of plastics for co-processing in cement production.
In a company LinkedIn update following a seminar held during Geocycle Week 2026, LHB said the proposed project would pre-treat municipal solid waste to improve plastic separation.
The project would complement the material recovery facility established by the partners at Sylhet’s Lalmatia Dumping Ground in 2024. Recovered waste is transported to LHB’s integrated Chhatak cement plant for co-processing through its Geocycle business.
The company previously referred to the proposed bio-drying facility in an update following a ministerial visit in August. Investment, treatment capacity and commissioning details have not been disclosed.
