Chryso and Ecocem have unveiled EnviroMix 3150 ACT, a jointly developed superplasticiser designed for concrete incorporating Ecocem’s ACT low-carbon cement technology.
Presented at BATIMAT 2026 in Paris, the admixture is formulated to address the production and placement requirements of reduced-clinker concrete. The companies say the combined solution can reduce concrete’s carbon footprint by more than 50 per cent, while providing high flowability, low viscosity and workability retention exceeding 90 minutes.
The collaboration has resulted in two patent applications. Ecocem says its ACT technology can reduce cement’s carbon footprint by up to 70 per cent.
The combined technology is already being used in the refurbishment of the former John Lewis headquarters in London, where nearly 1300m³ of low-carbon concrete is expected to be poured by year-end. C20/25 and C30/37 mixes incorporating ACT cement and EnviroMix 3150 ACT have been developed for the project, achieving 90-minute workability retention and good pumpability, according to the companies.
Chryso, part of Saint-Gobain Construction Chemicals, and Ecocem are exploring further cooperation on low-carbon cement and concrete.
