Paraguay: INC expects to use up 20% biofuel

Paraguay’s Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) announced that subject to satisfactory analysis results, the cement producer will be including biofuel in its fuel mix. A series of tests is currently being carried out by the Engineering Faculty of the National University of Asuncíon (UNA). Jorge Méndez Cuevas, CEO of INC, said the company could substitute fuel oil with up to 20 per cent biofuel.

Industry waste-to-product business, Shanks Group plc, has secured a six-year contract extension with HeidelbergCement Group for the supply of ICOPOWER® energy pellets. Egypt-based Arabian Cement Co (ACC)  is seeking to utilise alternative energy to increase its capacity utilisation rate to 100 per cent, the company’s CEO Jose Maria Magrina told Daily News Egypt on the sidelines of the Economic Summit. The UK's Environment Minister, Mark H Durkan, and Devendra Mody, Industrial Director of Lafarge Tarmac, on Saturday signed an agreement allowing the use of waste-derived fuels at the company's Cookstown cement works, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Hungary: Magyarország plant invests in alternative fuels storage facility

Lafarge Cement Magyarország opened a storage facility for waste that will be used to help fuel its plant in Királyegyháza, southwestern Hungary. The project, involving an investment of HUF700m (EUR2.2m), will be used to store plastic, rubber and  industrial and farm byproducts. Lafarge Cement Magyarország employs 130 people, and reported revenues of HUF8.3bn last year.
