ACC acquires Asian Concretes and Cements

ACC Ltd , a subsidiary of Ambuja Cements Ltd , has announced that it is acquiring a 55 per cent stake in Asian Concretes and Cements Pvt Ltd (ACCPL) for an enterprise value of INR7750m (US$93.3m). Adani reduces use of wholesalers

In a bid to boost profitability, Ambuja Cements Ltd and ACC Ltd has reduced the number of distributors it uses in the Gujarat region of India from 12 to three. The Indian subsidiary ACC Ltd reported a 2.7 per cent reduction in cement deliveries for 2016 to 22.99Mt, while in the fourth quarter the reduction was 9.1 per cent to 5.45m, slightly less than the 9.6 per cent to 5.07Mt seen in the third quarter. A weakness in cement prices and softening demand in the region is expected to hit Q3FY13 earnings of some of India’s cement producers. Holcim's two main Indian subsidiaries, Ambuja Cements and ACC Limited, have been fined at total of approximately EUR325m, or INR2301 crores, by the Honourable Competition Commission of India.
