Cemex Dominicana increases packing and palletising capacity

Cemex Dominicana recently announced a US$6m investment to increase the packing and palletizing capacity of its cement plant at San Pedro de Macoris (east). It said the investment in a new cement packing unit forms part of the company’s strategic plan in the Dominican Republic in response to local market requirements, Dominican Today reports. The new unit will boost Cemex's capacity by more than 1.5m additional bags monthly, or 800,000tpa.

The state government of Kerala, India, has given Malabar Cements Ltd the green light to set up a bulk cement handling unit at the Port of Cochin. Semen Indonesia is looking to further cater the Papua area of Indonesia, one of the fastest-growing markets in the country. Limak Cimento, part of the Turkish conglomerate Limak Holding, is to enter the Côte d'Ivoire market through a new grinding and packaging plant venture with local partner Afrikbat. Semen Indonesia has inaugurated a new cement packing plant in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, taking the company’s total number of packing facilities to 23. The plant is estimated to have cost IDR120bn (US$10m), the company said in a statement posted on its website on Thursday.
