Star Cement to invest INR4.5bn in new plant02 December 2020, Published under Cement NewsIndia’s Star Cement has announced an INR4.5bn (US$61m) investment in Bengal through the construction of its new 2Mta grinding unit. It will be the company’s first facility in the state and the government has already cleared land for the project in Jalpaiguri, according to the Times of India. Star Cement currently has a manufacturing capacity of 4Mta, which is expected to go up to 6Mta upon completion. India: Dalmia in Bengal30 June 2016, Published under Cement NewsDalmia Bharat is planning to further increase its presence in Bengal, India. The company has been present in the region for the last two years through its cement unit near Salboni. The unit was set up through OCL India Ltd, an associate company. Director and CEO of OCL India, Amandeep Gupta, said Dalmia may look for a second plant in the state. The group has already taken on a lease on a grinding unit in Siliguri to cater to north Bengal.
