Venezuela’s Cemento Andino produced 283,308t of cement between January and mid-June. The output was delivered to serve the Trujillo, Mérida, Barinas, Portuguesa, Lara and Zulia markets, according to Oswaldo Zerpa, Andino’s general manager. The company is currently building a second production line which will see its capacity increase to 2.1Mta.

Venezuela’s Cemento Andino dispatched 1,138,326 bags of cement in April. Cemento Andino operates a cement works in Las Llanadas, Candelaria in Trujillo state and distributes its product through 45 community outlets. In addition, the company has a direct distribution centre in Las Llanadas, four communal bulk silos and three concrete plants in Barinas, Portuguesa and Trujillo.

Venezuela’s largest cement company, Venezolana de Cementos, saw production drop 13.1 per cent in 4Q13, according to data by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV). Venezuela’s Minister of Industry, Ricardo Menéndez, announced that Cemento Andino will increase capacity at its Las Llanadas plant in Trujillo from 0.7Mt to 2Mt. The expansion will see the construction of a second, 1.2Mta production line. The project will be carried out by an undisclosed Chinese equipment supplier.

Venezuela’s Cemento Andino broke major records in production and delivery, according to reports by Cesar Villareal, general manager of the Trujillo group. For the full-year, the company produced 586,000t of cement.
