Cherat Packaging introduce polypropylene sacks

Cherat Packaging Pakistan and BSW Machinery have introduced 65g polypropylene sacks to hold 50kg of cement. This new sack technology offers a potential reduction in weight of 20 per cent compared to standard sack weight. BSW said that more than half of the cement factories in Pakistan have trialled and approved the polypropylene sacks, and now use them commercially.

Cement producers in Pakistan will invest between US$700m and US$1bn in expanding capacity over the next few years, according to Mohammad Ali Tabba, chair of the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association. Pakistan producer Cherat Cement Co reported a profit after tax of PKR676.2m (US$6.48m) in the first half of FY16 versus PKR639.8m a year earlier, which translates to a six per cent YoY rise. Pakistan-based producer Cherat Cement posted a profit after tax of PKR710m (US$6.74m) in the six months to the end of December 2013.
