Colombia's cement market in February 2017 contracted 3.6 per cent to 1.008Mt when compared with February 2016, according to DANE, the country's statistics office. Indonesia's second-largest cement producer, PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa, expects domestic cement consumption to increase by 3-5 per cent in 2017, its President Director, Christian Kartawijaya, told the Jakarta Post. Morocco's cement market contracted 9.9 per cent YoY in February to 1.064Mt from 1.181Mt in February 2016. Spain's cement market expanded by 4.2 per cent YoY in February 2017 when sales reached 910,252t, according to Oficemen, the Spanish cement association. Peru's cement market contracted 6.9 per cent YoY with sales of 0.737Mt in February, according to Asocem, the country's cement producers' association. Saudi cement producers saw sales fall by 24.9 per cent in February 2017. Cement companies sold 4.09Mt of cement in the second month of the year, down from 5.44Mt in February 2016. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the USA and Puerto Rico in December were 6.04Mt, representing a 8.6 per cent YoY fall, according to the US Geological Survey. Puerto Rican cement sales in February slipped 2.3 per cent in February following a 0.2 per cent rise the previous month. Argentina's cement producers dispatched 801,782t of cement in February, a 0.8 per cent drop MoM and 8.7 per cent YoY, according to the Argentine cement producers' association, AFCP. Domestic sales decreased 0.8 per cent YoY to 801,782t in February 2017 from 808,310t in February 2016. Exports increased 9.3 per cent YoY to 6652t from 6084t.
