FLSmidth records 19% rise in 1Q order intake

FLSmidth reported a 19 per cent increase in order intake for 1Q16 to DKK5.281bn (US$797m), mainly due to the receipt of a large order in a quarter which is usually quiet. Revenue fell by 20 per cent in January with the recovery in February and March unable to offset the drop. Total revenues for the quarter reached DKK3.758bn, down from DKK4.683bn a year ago. FLSmidth has signed an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract with a value of more than EUR200m with SARL Amouda Ingineering for the supply of a greenfield cement plant in Algeria. FLSmidth has signed a contract with Arabian Cement Company (ACC) for operation and maintenance of the production lines at its cement plant located near the city of Suez in Egypt. Cementos Argos has contracted FLSmidth to install a new OK 3304 cement mill system at its plant in Sogamoso, in the department of Boyacá, Colombia, 233km from Bogotá. This marks the fourth OK mill purchased by the company. The mill system includes cement storage, Ventomatic packing plant, MAAG gear, Airtech filters and auxiliary equipment. The project is expected to be commissioned in 3Q17.
