FLSmidth has reviewed and approved the company’s interim report for the six months to 30 June 2014, maintaining its 2014 guidance and noting a significant improvement in margins. However, its order intake declined declined due to a lack of large orders, whereas announced orders were stable. FLSmidth has announced a number of organisational structure changes, as well as adjustments to the Group Executive Management. The new organisation will consist of the four divisions. The Material Handling and Mineral Processing divisions will be merged into a Minerals division. Cement and Customer Services will be maintained as separate divisions. Sinai Cement awards FLSmidth contract to prepare for coal usage

Sinai Cement Co (SCC) has awarded FLSmidth, the contract to provide the equipment to facilitate the use of coal, Daily News Egypt has reported. The Egyptian-based cement producer also said it would partner with local contractors and suppliers to equip the plant to use coal as an alternative energy to natural gas and fuel oil.

Carthage Cement issues Provisional Performance Acceptance certificate, Tunisia

The Provisional Acceptance certificate has been issued by Carthage Cement for the 5800tpd Djebel Ressas cement plant in Tunisia, constructed by an FLSmdith-Ekon-Prokon consortium on an EPC turkney basis. The greenfield Djebel Ressas plant is the first project to be completed after the Arab Spring. According to a statement by Ekon, the plant has exceeded design figures in terms of production capacity and product quality while achieving less emissions.

FLSmidth reported its first full-year net loss for over a decade and saw cement orders fall by 26 per cent despite a strong increase in the final quarter. The Denmark-based equipment supplier reported a net loss of DKK784m (US$143.9m) for last year compared with a net profit of DKK1.3bn in 2012. FLSmidth has received an order worth US$38m from Oman Cement Co for the supply of milling equipment for a grinding plant located in Rusayl Industrial Area, 6km from Port Sultan Qaboos, Muscat.   The order covers supply of a 150tph closed circuit ball mill system including two cement silos, each with a capacity of 8000t.
