Semen Bosowa begins construction of East Java plant, Indonesia

PT Semen Bosowa has started the construction of its 1.2Mta cement factory in East Java with a groundbreaking ceremony in the presence of Indonesia’s Industry Minister MS Hidayat , the Jakarta Post reports. Gresik sees 20% 1Q12 rise, aims to increase market share

In the first quarter of 2012, Semen Gresik earned IDR4.28trn (US$466m) in revenue, a 20 per cent increase from IDR3.55trn during the same period last year and hopes two new plants that are set to become operational this year will help the company regain higher market share. Holcim Indonesia plans to distribute IDR425bn (US$46m) in dividends, or the equivalent of 40 per cent of its 2011 net income, its chief executive has said. Indonesia's domestic cement sales were 12.5Mt in the first quarter, up 18.2 per cent from a year ago, data from PT Semen Gresik Tbk showed on Friday.        March sales were 4.4Mt, up 16.2 per cent from the same month last year, the data showed, with most sales in Sumatra and Java islands. PT Pelayaran Tonasa Lines & PT Dok & Perkapalan Surabaya are to build 11 shipping vessel unitswith an investment of IDR1.26trn (US$137m) and have signed three cooperation contracts, Bisnis Indonesia reports. PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa, part of the HeidelbergCement Group, is set to construct a new cement factory in Citereup, West Java, according to local press reports.
